Three men ‘had kniveswith intent’

Three men have been charged in relation to being in possession of knives with intent to commit an offence.

Two of them appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court and a third - who is currently in the Isle of Mull in Scotland - was excused from attending. Reece Louden (20), of Cafe Mews, Ballymoney, is currently in Scotland.

He is alleged to have had offensive weapons - two knives - with intent to commit grievous bodily harm on August 19 this year.

He is further charged with three more offences on August 18 - being disorderly at Hamilton Park in Ballymoney’s Glebeside estate; damaging a Ford Fiesta belonging to a woman and possession of a large black handled kitchen knife as an offensive weapon in a public place, Cafe Lane, Ballymoney.

In court was Mark Anthony Kelly (19) of Mullan Road, Ballymoney, who is charged with possession of offensive weapons, two knives, with intent to commit grievous bodily harm on August 19 and with driving a vehicle with excess alcohol at Athol Avenue, Coleraine, on the same date. Alongside him in the dock was Adrian Lee McGonigle (21), of Margaret Avenue, Ballymoney, who is charged with possession of an offensive weapon, a knife, with intent to commit grievous bodily harm on August 19. Kelly and McGonigle were each released on their own bail of £350 to appear back in court in October.
