Teenager has astonishing win

A MOIRA teenager had an astonishing winning streak recently in the Lagan Festive of Speech, Drama, Art and Song.

Brooke Johnston (12) from Broomhedge, had entered three categories in the competition - prepared speech age 15 and under, verse speaking age 12 and a prepared prose reading age 12.

Then on Saturday night she received a call requesting her to attend the Special Awards ceremony at the Beechlawn Hotel on the Sunday evening.

There Brooke was awarded ‘The Soroptomist International (Club of Lisburn) Cup.’ This is awarded to the female performer gaining the highest marks in classes S19-S30 inclusive.

This was a great achievement for the teenager, as this was the first time entering the Lagan Festival.

Over 550 competitors take part in the festival March 6 to 10, 2013.

Brooke a pupil at Lisnagarvey High school, Lisburn said she thoroughly enjoyed the week’s festival. The other performers were all very dedicated and also entertaining.
