Stranocum man killed in crash in Republic

The man killed in a motorcycle accident in the Republic of Ireland at the weekend is from Stranocum.

He has been named locally as 55-year-old Robert Wright.

Mr Wright was riding a motorcycle which was involved in a collision with a van in Co Mayo on Sunday afternoon

It happened on the Hollymount to Claremorris Road at about 1.20pm.

Married to Lorna, Robert is survived by his three children, two boys and a girl.

A highly respected and popular member of his community, Robert was a member of the Stranocum Orange Lodge and the Stranocum RBP.

He worked at Chestnutt Animal Feeds in his home village.
