He made his call after a recent fly tipping incident on the Boyd’s Road between the two villages.
Cllr McLaughlin said: “This is not a new problem but unfortunately it seems to be happening more frequently now.

Hide Ad“It is concerning not only because of the environmental damage but the long term health of local residents due to this indiscriminate fly-tipping.
“Anyone dumping rubbish in this way obviously has neither respect for themselves, the environment or their community.
“Local people are rightly concerned about the environmental impact and public health implications this illegal dumping is having on the area.
“I have been in contact with the Environmental Department and made them aware of the situation at Boyd’s Road and asked for a clean up of the area.
“There is no excuse for this indiscriminate dumping.

Hide Ad“The opening hours for the amenity sites are well known and published on a regular basis.
“If anyone has bulky items that need collected for disposal they should ring the Council Environmental Department to make arrangements for that to happen, not just leave a mess for council workers to clear up. “
