St Mary’s shortlisted in eco-schools awards

It is one of four Armagh schools which will attend the first ever Airtricity and EcoSchools Global Wind Awards.

Joining St Mary’s are pupils from Clea Primary, Mountnorris Primary and Killicomaine Junior High.

They have been selected to attend the inaugural Airtricity and EcoSchools Global Wind Awards, due to be held at Airtricity’s Slieve Kirk Wind Farm in County Derry~Londonderry on Thursday, June 20.

Over 150 students and teachers from primary and secondary schools across Northern Ireland will take part in the energy focused awards, which will be a highlight of this year’s Global Wind Month, the annual celebration of wind power and renewable energy.

This year’s Global Wind Awards drew more than 50 entries from primary and secondary schools competing for the title of Eco-Schools Committee of the year and Operation Energy school project of the year.

Josh Bradley, Airtricity, said: “The competition drew a number of outstanding entries from primary, secondary and special schools across Northern Ireland, giving the judges a very difficult task in selecting the shortlist.”
