Spectacular Northern Lights show over region
Caroline Smyth, a photographer from Larne, came across the phenomena by chance on Sunday evening.
She said: “I was driving home from celebrating Mother’s Day with my family when we first spotted the sky illuminated with a green tinge. My daughters and I were so excited, so called in home for the camera and tripod.

Hide Ad“We stopped off at the bottom of Carnfunnock before heading up above Ballygally. It was magical and mesmerising being able to witness this here on our doorstep.”
In the wake of news of a stolen fire engine in Larne and an explosives find in Carnfunnock over the weekend, Caroline explained she wanted to show the area in a different light.
She added: “One of the reasons I went down to Carnfunnock first was because of the awful events publicised in Larne over the weekend. I wanted to show a more positive side to the area.”
