Small grants for volunteering

THE Small Grants for Volunteering Scheme makes small grants available to local volunteer-involving organisations who must be independent, established for charitable purposes and have a constitution in place.

The criteria for eligibility states that organisations must:

· Operate within Coleraine, Ballymoney or Moyle District Council areas; · Have an annual income of less than £100,000; · Be made up of at least 40% of volunteers who are not in paid work; · Promote diversity and make volunteering more inclusive; · Tackle need or disadvantage and benefit the local community.

This grant scheme will be a three month programme from June 1 to August 31, 2013 and is aimed at organisations who run activities or events that involve volunteers, during this period. Grants may only be used for the purposes of costs associated with these activities or events.

The maximum allowable grant is £1,000 however it is expected that grants awarded will be in the region of £200. Applications from Neighbourhood Renewal Areas are particularly welcome.

This programme is funded by the Department of Social Development and is administered by Causeway Volunteer Centre.
