Santa at switch-on

The countdown to Christmas in Carrick will commence tomorrow (Friday) week with the switching on of the festive lights at Market Place (from 7.00pm).

Organised by Carrick Council, the evening celebrations will feature Citybeat, Santa and the Toy Soldier show (7.45pm-8.15pm) followed by a fireworks display which can be viewed from the Harbour car park and Castle Green (approximately 8.30pm).

The civic carol service will take place at 7pm in St Nicholas Church and will feature choirs from Victoria Primary School and Ulidia Integrated College as well as accompaniments from CWA Brass Band. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

A dozen performances of ‘Santa’s Sooty Christmas’ will take place between Friday 3 and Saturday 11 December in the Town Hall. Admission to the panto is free and demand has been high for seats, according to the local authority, so book now to avoid disappointment is the advice: contact the Tourist Information Centre (028 9335 8049).
