Rotary Club support Midnight Walk event

The local group IS delighted to be volunteering their services to the local event which hopes to raise over £10,000 for hospice care services in the North Coast and Causeway area.

Rotary Club President, Milne Rowntree said: “The Rotary Club of Coleraine is delighted to support the Midnight Walk for Hospice for a second year.

“The club places great emphasis on supporting the local community in Coleraine and wholeheartedly supports the fantastic work undertaken by the Northern Ireland Hospice.

“We look forward to a great evening helping the volunteer walkers and helping to raise funds for hospice care in our area.

“I am calling on as many local people as possible, of all ages and abilities, to take part in this great event. It is a chance to have a great bit of fun and support a really worthwhile cause.”

As well as being endorsed by the Rotary Club of Coleraine, the event is also kindly supported by local businesses and organisations which have offered their support including Ulster Bank, AutoZone Cars, Fitness First, Starbucks, Coleraine Times, Zing Design and Print and North West Discos.

Lynn Boyce, Events Fundraiser is encouraged by the support received so far.

“Once again we are delighted to have the local Rotary Club’s support for our event in Coleraine along with all our other supporters. It means so much to have their support endorsing an event to help local people in the area.

“As well as having people register to participate in the event, we also need local volunteers, like the Rotary Club, to assist with various roles to ensure the evening runs as smoothly as possible.

Places for the charity’s Midnight Walk are still up for grabs but are going fast. The Diamond is set to come alive on Friday, October 26 as hundreds of local people gather to participate in the four mile Midnight Walk around the town.

The evening will have a very distinctive party theme, as participants are encouraged to dress up in something purple, the hospice colour, or wear an outfit to get into the Halloween season.

Warm up exercises lead by Fitness First will get everyone warmed up ahead of the walk which commences at 11.00pm. Spot prizes will be awarded for those best dressed for the occasion.

Starbucks will also be in attendance as one of the sponsors, providing free drinks to everyone taking part.

Registration for this event costs £10 and once registered you will receive an event pack containing all the information you need, along with fundraising tips. On the night you will also receive a goodie bag plus other free gifts to add to the fun of the occasion.
