Rockers and ravers hold Haiti events

BELFAST's rock and club music scenes each hold fundraisers for the Haitian relief effort this Sunday (January 31).

Belfast4Haiti events will take place at two venues in the city centre.

A total of 50 bands and DJs will take to the stage during the course of a nine-hour session at the Limelight/Spring and Airbrake/Katy Daly’s complex on Ormeau Avenue, starting at 3.00pm.

The bands on the bill are The Answer, General Fiasco, In Case Of Fire, Joe Echo, Panama Kings, Ben Glover, Olympic Lifts, Mojo Fury, Dutch Schultz, Pocket Billiards, Cashier No 9, A Plastic Rose, Cutaways, Not Squares, Colenso Parade, Queer Giraffes, Ten Gallon Hat, Escape Act, Kowalski, Team Laser Explosive, Yakuza, Uber Glitterati, The Rupture Dogs, Tin Pot Operation, Black Bear Saloon, Axis Of, Swanee River, The Good Fight, The Beat Poets, Comply or Die, The Lobotomies and Suicide Dolphin Bombers.

DJs offering their services are Stuart Baile, Nakatomi Towers, Jane Bradford DJs, Panic Dots, FAUX DJs, Shag, Sketchy and Helter Skelter residents, Chalkman, Ed Zealous, Factotum DJs and Josh Mc Cann.

Those who prefer electronic sounds are sure to find something to their liking across the road at the Stiff Kitten, which is hosting a two-room FundRaver.

As well as a rare techno set from David Holmes, there will be appearances by fast-rising local producers the Japanese Popstars, Boxcutter, Shine’s Phil Kieran, Alan Simms, Simon McDermott and Timmy Stewart, Stiff Kitten regulars Psycatron, Twitch and John Craig, Lush! mainman Col Hamilton, Space Dimension Controller and the Sketchy, Revolver, Radio K and La Musique residents.
