Road work welcomed in Mourneview

Last week the Road Service began resurfacing work on Mourne Road after representation from local residents and Councillor Carla Lockhart.

The DUP councillor said: “This is a long awaited good news story for the residents of Mourne Road and the surrounding area. I have been working with residents to achieve this outcome and am delighted at Road Service's decision to resurface this stretch of road.”

She added: “This particular road was in a bad state of repair and had unfortunately got worse owing to the bad spell of weather over the past few months.

“Residents and road users are very pleased with the outcome and have expressed their gratitude in this regard.

“I trust that many other roads within the area will also qualify for such resurfacing and I will be continuing to lobby to that end."

The state of local roads, including Mourne Road, has been highlighted in the ‘MAIL’ in recent months.
