£10k support for Sentinus

Ballymena Councillors have agreed at committee level to provide £10,000 match funding once again towards the delivery a innovation and research & development programme for schools in 2014-15.

Members approved the contribution to Sentinus based on the track record of the programme and its success to-date.

Earlier they had been reminded that Sentinus is one of the largest providers of business/education activity in the UK and works with schools and colleges throughout NI to promote engagement in the STEM subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The organisation hosted a successful Sentinus Team R&D Celebration Day at The Braid in 2012 which was followed up by a formal Council sponsored programme of activity in 2013 which was rolled out to schools between September of that year and April of this year, engaging 1,447 pupuils from 97 schools throughout NI with celebration events held at two local venues.
