The Sheddings, located between Broughshane and Carnlough, will undergo a transformation if planning permission is successful.

A planning application has been lodged with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council  for change of use at the vacant Carnlough Road hostelry.

The public house and local landmark, at Aughafatten, which has been closed for more than a decade was on the market for £65,000.

It is understood that the new occupants will be the New Dawn Evangelical Fellowship which meets at Broughshane Community Centre.

It is one of three pubs in the east Antrim area which are being transformed.

Dan Campbell’s and The Thatch at Bridge Street in Larne are being demolished to make way for the new £3.2m Inver River Hotel.

Meanwhile, a planning application has been lodged with Mid and East Antrim  council for change of use at a church in Cullybackey which is poised to become a ballet studio.

The vacant church premises, formerly occupied by the Church of God, at Pottinger Street, in the North Antrim village, was on the market but has since been sold.
