They say 'dogs really are a man's best friend', and throughout the past year that expression may ring even more true, as locals are hailing their family pets as their 'lifesavers' during lockdown.

It seems Lisburn locals are not alone, as pets are providing companionship and consistency at a time of great uncertainty for many across the globe.

The benefits of pet ownership for health and wellbeing are well-documented, reducing loneliness and anxiety, lending daily structure, and lifting mood.
