Co Antrim woman receives plaudits for ‘amazing’ patio painting

Sarah Leavey painted the colourful imagery on her patio for a couple of hours each day over a week and a half period.

Ms Leavey, who was due to get married in April before the ceremony had to be postponed due to coronavirus restrictions, said working on the art has helped to keep her occupied.

Speaking to this paper, the Larne-based yoga instructor said: “I had been painting the fence and tidying up the garden and decided to paint the design on the patio.

“I enjoy painting and used to paint murals around 20 years ago and it is nice to be painting again. When I finished the patio, I uploaded pictures of it to social media. It received a lot of positive feedback and was picked up by This Morning on ITV.

“I couldn’t believe it when it was on TV. There has been a bit of a buzz around it and it’s nice to have been able to do something like this during lockdown.

“I’ve had plenty of free time and working on it has helped to keep me occupied. I’m planning on doing a floral mural on my garage wall next.”

Residents have praised Sarah on social media with a number of people describing her work as “amazing.”
