Why not raise the minimum wage?

The article in the Larne Times on August 2 highlighted the high unemployment in this area.

The propaganda that people prefer benefits to jobs is untrue. No wise person would choose to survive on £10 per day.

The minimum wage is so low we now have a working poor. By the time you pay transport to work and home again there is little left to live on.

Instead of targeting those on benefits, make it worthwhile to work by raising the minimum wage. Attacking those on benefit is just like kicking people when they are down.

Little wonder mental health in Northern Ireland is the one thing growing whilst the economy declines, now in double dip recession.

And perhaps target the rich evading taxes and leave the little people alone.
