Take action which will really hit offenders

I COMMEND Lisburn City Council on their efforts to deal with the disgusting problem of dog fouling.

I with their latest effort well and I note they are prepared to receive information ‘in confidence’ about those who ignore the most basic rules of decency and hygiene.

But I am constantly amazed by the people who I see sneaking off after letting their dog do its business, which is bad enough, but who seem to enjoy the fact it is in the place most likely to be trodden on by a child or older person.

Why do they let their pet foul right outside houses or near schools?

Is there something wrong with them?

While a £50 fine may deter some of these people I would suggest a three strikes and you’re out policy..

Anyone caught three times would lose the right to keep a dog.

A simple and, I hope, effective way to get the message home to those thoughtless people that the rest of us are just not going to accept their gross behaviour any longer.
