Nothing sacred for criminals

NOTHING is sacred for some criminals: newly-released police information shows there were over 100 crimes recorded at North West schools over the past year-and-a-half including one sexual offence and numerous offences against the person.

One sexual offence and seven offences against the person were recorded by the PSNI as having occurred at, or near, Limavady High School between September 2009 and February 2010, for example.

And six offences against the person were recorded at, or near Lisneal College; three were recorded at, or near Oakgrove Integrated College; and three were recorded at, or near Termoncanice Primary School during the same period. The information was released by the PSNI in response to a Freedom of Information request.

The PSNI’s Central Statistic Unit provided the information for offences that have taken place at, or near, a school.

Police point out that the incidents may not necessarily have occurred on school premises and that they may have occurred outside school hours including weekends and holidays and may not necessarily have involved pupils or staff.
