North West band scene notes

THE Pride of the Orange and Blue Auld boys have thanked everyone who sponsored, bought horses and attended the night at the races in Villa’s Bar, Newbuildings, on Saturday night.

Orange and Blue

The evening included the Pride of the Orange and Blue playing a great set, which included the young drum core playing.

Almost £2,000 was raised on the night.

Culture night

Churchill Cultural Night in the Memorial Hall was a great success.

Three bands turned out to play on Saturday night, and are thanked for their time and effort. Among them were the members of Millar Memorial, from Belfast, who opened proceedings. The members of Ballyquin were next on the bill making the journey from Limavady, while the third band to step up to the mark were the members of Dunloy, who really got the crowd singing and dancing.

The booked entertainment for the night were ‘The Banned’ and had the place rocking,

Members of the Churchill Flute Band have thanked those who supported this event in any way.

Thanks

The newly formed Caw Flute Band have thanked everyone who supported and sponsored the band for their sponsored walk. Members who took part in their first sponsored walk on Saturday morning.

Fundraising night

The band is running a fundraising night in the Memorial Hall on Friday, November 11, starting at 9pm.

Proceeds from the event will be used to buy instruments for the band.

Workshop

The next History of Marching Bands Workshop will be held next Wednesday night, November 16, in Irish Street Community Centre starting at 7.30pm.

View of history

The workshop will look at the history of marching bands in Northern Ireland, and also hear about the story of the Upper Falls Protestant Boys from Suffolk in West Belfast.

The feedback so far has been positive and everyone are welcome to attend.
