‘No funds’ for A-26 dualling
In a letter of response to recently expressed Council concerns over the delay in dualling of that road stretch, expressed in correspondence to DRD Minister Conor Murphy, his acting private secretary said the timing of the scheme’s delivery “will be dependent on the allocation of finances in the next Budget period”.
It was pointed out to councillors that “the Minister has advised that unfortunately due to a reduction of 40% in the Executive’s overall capital funding from the Treasury over the 2011-2015 period, his Department is now faced with funding constraints and has the difficult task of having to allocate finite resources to its numerous demands...

Hide Ad“Unfortunately, when these competing priorities are taken into consideration, the funding allocated in Budget 2010 will not enable construction of the A26 between Glarryford and the A44 Drones Road to start in the next four year period”.
Steven McKee, Acting PA to Minister Murphy, added: “In the meantime, Roads Service will continue to develop the scheme through the normal statutory processes”.
