The rescuers of a greyhound who was found in a “very bad condition” in a Larne shed are hoping to raise £200 to send her to a specialist rescue centre in England.
Tara was found last Monday (March 9) suffering from mange and eating her own legs due to stress after being locked in a shed without food, water or heating. Her weight had plummeted to 40 pounds.
After Tara was taken to Carrickfergus Dog Pound’s kennels, a local dog lover heard of her plight.
Jill Mawhinney took Tara to Rathmore Boarding Kennels in Antrim where she is currently receiving treatment to increase her weight and treat her skin condition,
Jill hopes to raise enough money to send Tara to Birmingham Greyhound Rescue Centre, where they will either rehome her or give her a home for life.
£200 will provide enough money to cover Tara’s vet fees, dog passport and her transfer to Birmingham for her new life.
