Minister in praise of business community

Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell has praised Ballymena businesses for their ‘can do’ attitude which, he said, would continue to pay dividends for the local economy.

Speaking at Ballymena Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s autumn Business Breakfast, Jonathan Bell said the launch of the first Business Improvement District in Ballymena “is testimony to the positive and progressive attitude that exists within the local business community”.

He said: “This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to take control and make the changes that they know will improve their retail environment.

“Businesses in the Ballymena area continue to innovate, invest, grow and create jobs. Local companies that have recently announced investment plans include Moy Park, Galgorm Resort & Spa, Smiths Engineering Works, Grants Electrical Services, AGR Automation, Wrightbus and Garage Door Systems.

“While this is impressive, there is never room for complacency. Invest NI will continue to work with Mid & East Antrim Borough Council and other stakeholders to encourage even greater levels of local entrepreneurship, business growth, innovation and exports,” he said.
