Meeting will discuss Ballee Home project

A MEETING is to be held to discuss the application to build a residential home off the Antrim Road in Ballymena.

Sixty six letters of objection and a petition with 97 names had been received by planners against the planning application from the Northern Health and Social Care Trust which would see a new home for 12-18 years old being built adjacent to the site of their existing facility off Hollybank Park.

In August the Times reported how MLA Paul Frew and Cllr Beth Adger met with the Trust’s chief executive with residents to put forward the views of those who object to the plans.

Concerns were raised regarding ongoing anti-social behaviour issues and concerns about access to the site via Old Antrim road.

The application had been set for approval but at last Thursday night’s meeting of the public sector liaison committee, planners agreed to hold a meeting following a request from a local MLA.
