Mr McMullan said the meeting was “constructive” and added: “Among the issues discussed was the provision of care in the Glenarm and Carnlough areas. We agreed that an investigation will be carried out into how we can improve the services as the current services are below standard.

“I also petitioned the minister for a new build of the Larne Adult Centre and the minister confirmed that he will visit the centre before Christmas.

“This is great news as it will give the management the chance to put forward the case for a new centre. At the meeting an official of the Board did say that a survey of the site showed that the present site was not fit for modern-day purpose.

“I would like to thank the Minister for the meeting. I will continue to raise the case for better standards and services for disabled and special needs in the coastal area of East Antrim.”
