Maryville residents have their say

The council, along with Supporting Communities N.I., is hosting the meeting on Monday, October 8, starting at 7.30pm in the Belmont Hotel.

A number of representatives from various agencies will be in attendance to discuss the survey’s findings, including officers from the Housing Executive and SELB Youth Service.

Community Development Officer with Banbridge District Council, Robert Stockley, said the survey had been sent to residents in a questionnaire form in April this year and a number of issues had been raised, including the need for more activities for young people and the provision of play facilities for children.

Maryville was chosen for the project because it falls within the ‘Cut’ ward which Mr Stockley says has been identified as the ward with the greatest area of deprivation in the Banbridge district.

“Following the recent survey in the Maryville area, several issues have been highlighted by residents and we would like to meet with local people to see what actions could be taken to address these concerns,” he said. “This is a good opportunity for people living in the estate to engage with the various agencies on matters concerning them.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to attend this meeting and have their say.”
