Mannequin tales for ladies of Cairncastle WI

The new president of Cairncastle WI. Mary Rainey, welcomed a large turnout of members to the October meeting .

A moment’s silence was observed in memory of long-serving past member Margaret Marcus.

Guest speaker Valerie Beattie told the ladies about how she has kept two mannequins in a window at her home near Ballycarry for over 25 years, catching the attention of passers-by with their ever changing apparel. She brought many of the beautiful clothes with her.

Maureen McGaughey will take over the role of secretary of the Inver area for 2015.

The monthly competition for an antique ring was won by Margaret Clements. Mena McFaul won the ballot.

Mary welcomed members and visitor Heather Barrett to the November meeting of Caircastle WI.

Tom Durrant, home safety officer, of Larne Borough Council, gave an insight into all aspects of home safety, covering all ages from the very young to the very old.

He advised that help was always available to make life easier, especially for the elderly.

Reports were presented on an enjoyable visit to Larne WI visitors’ night.

The Friendship Trophy was presented to Maureen McGaughey and the Rosemary Carson trophy to Pat Hunter.

The monthly competition for a safety hint was won by Daphne Hassin. The December meeting will be Christmas party night.
