Man to stand trial over £22,000 theft from Cookstown church
Before Magherafelt Magistrates Court was 55-year-old Derek Carson, from Orchard Way, Portglenone, who was also charged with dishonestly abusing his position by preparing and submitting for the church for approval incorrect accounts.
Carson was further charged with converting criminal property, namely £22,000.

Hide AdThe alleged offences were committed between January 1 2007 and June 13 2013.
Carson confirmed that he understood the charges.
District Judge Alan White said on the basis of court papers, he believed there was a case to answer.
Mr White returned Carson for arraignment at Londonderry Crown Court, on March 10, on personal bail of £500. He granted legal aid for one counsel.
