Lough Neagh Rescue come to aid of vessel 'taking on water' in Ballyronan area

Lough Neagh Rescue came to the aid of a vessel with at least two people on board that was taking on water in the Ballyronan area earlier today.

In a Facebook post they said lifeboats and shore crew were tasked by CGOC Belfast Coastguard to the vessel.

"An extensive search commenced from the eastern and northern areas of the lough. With the assistance of the PSNI Heli the casualty vessel was located and the lifeboats proceeded to the casualty vessel," the post reads.

"Our crews assessed the vessel for any damage and the persons on board before securing a tow line and commencing a tow back to Ballyronan marina.

"The casualty vessel was safely secured to the jetty and those on board brought safely to shore and handed into the care of the awaiting Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team along side PSNI. Lifeboats and shore crews back in base at 04.00am."
