Lisburn Fire and Rescue Service needs you!

Dale Ashford, Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service explained what the project was about.

“This is a new and innovative pilot initiative for NIFRS,” he said.

“We are keen to attract enthusiastic and motivated people who want to help make a difference in their community by becoming volunteer fire safety ambassadors.

“Are you a team player? Have you excellent communication and interpersonal skills?

“Do you enjoy engaging with members of the public and are you passionate about fire safety?

“If so your Fire and Rescue Service needs you.

“You will be required to support us in carrying out fire safety related activities by engaging with the local community, in particular with vulnerable groups, to help protect them and their families from the dangers of fire in the home.

“Applications are now open through Volunteer Now and full training, support and uniform will be provided for the successful candidates,” concluded Mr Ashford.

Wendy Osborne OBE, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now added: “Volunteers really do want to make a difference in their community.

“Volunteer Now welcomes this new initiative from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service in providing new opportunities for people to get involved.”

The closing date for applications is March 28 and interviews will be held on Monday April 7 and Tuesday April 8.

The pilot initiative will run in the Lisburn area from April 28 until July 7.
