Light on horizon for residents as window scheme to go ahead

A window replacement scheme is to take place in Rectory Park, Portadown, in February.

The Housing Executive confirmed that 221 homes will be upgraded in the £400,000 double glazing scheme.

The news was welcomed by Upper Bann DUP MLA Sydney Anderson and his colleague Councillor Jonathan Buckley, who had lobbied for the work after whey they said was a number of delays.

Mr Anderson said, “The Housing Executive had planned to start this scheme in September 2016. However, a legal challenge to the procurement exercise has resulted in a delay of approximately 14 weeks in the award of contract.

“Now that this challenge has been resolved the Housing Executive is working to start all schemes delayed by this issue.”

Cllr Buckley said it was imperative that the Housing Executive completed this scheme as many residents had become frustrated with the lack of progress to date.
