Larne set to honour its sporting heroes

ORGANISERS of this year’s Larne Borough Sports Awards are looking forward to honouring those who gave their best in the sporting arena in 2010.

Tonight (Thursday, February 24) the contenders will gather in the McNeill Theatre at Larne Leisure Centre for a special awards ceremony, hosted by Larne-born broadcaster Ronan Kelly.

Former hockey player, Stephen Martin, - an Olympic gold medal winner with the Great Britain side in Seoul in 1988 - will be the guest speaker at the prestigious event.

Larne Borough Sports Forum has been encouraged by the number and standard of entries for this year’s awards which will give recognition to Larne’s sportsmen and women.

There are eight main categories including awards for individuals and teams and also for Services to Sport.
