Newly-svelte slimmers from Larne Slimming World groups are celebrating after losing an amazing 65 stone in the past year.
The weight, equivalent to that of four baby elephants, was shed by the 10 people with the greatest weight loss from the classes of three local leaders.
Five Greatest Losers from Sarah’s groups lost a total of 25 stone, while four from Jayson’s groups lost 37 stone and one from Thomas’s recently-established group lost three stone.
On a visit to Howden’s fuel yard, some of the Greatest Losers surveyed a stack of 20 bags of coal, which illustrated the scale of their achievement.
Proud leader Jayson Paisley told the Times: “I want to congratulate our greatest losers, who have accomplished so much and lost a great burden which they didn’t believe was possible.
“As a consultant I am full of pride.
“This is a life-changing achievement.
“Thomas, who is now one of the group leaders, was formerly a member of my group and lost 17 and a half stone, while other people have lost three to four stone.
“The great thing is that it was done in a healthy and nutritious way.
“It shows that anyone who thinks they can’t lose weight is wrong, they can change their lives.”
The Slimming World leaders would like to thank Howdens for donating the 20 bags of coal as a raffle prize to enable each Slimming world group to raise funds for cancer charities.
