Larne riot accused has bail refused

A 32-year-old man charged in connection with the attacks in Larne recently has had his bail application refused.

Alan Nicholl, from Hampton Crescent in the town, is accused of rioting, two counts of attempted intimidation and three of criminal damage.

The charges are linked to the violence on Sunday, March 30, when police, residents and homes in Ferris Avenue and Knockdhu Park were attacked.

Mr Nicholl appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court via video link on Friday for a bail application. This was rejected by District Judge Des Perry and the defendant was remanded in custody. He will appear in court again on Thursday, May 8.
