Kicked door in temper

A LURGAN man kicked the door of the Housing Executive office in the town, causing the glass to shatter, Craigavon Magistrates Court has been told.

Vincent Martin Irvine (25), of Union Street, was sentenced to three months imprisonment, suspended for two years.District Judge Alan White, ordered him to pay 50 compensation.

Irvine admitted causing criminal damage on October 26.A prosecuting lawyer said when police interviewed Irvine, he told them his action was due to anger.

A defending solicitor said Irvine was making an application for housing benefit, and felt it was not being being dealt with as quickly as it should.

He said the offence was committed in a fit of temper and arose out of frustration.
