Kelly’s family and friends back the Memorial Garden charity

The friends and family of local girl Kelly McGarvey are backing the Angel of Hope Memorial Garden charity appeal.

Kelly, who was just 30, died after she and her beloved dog Bubbles fell at Downhill at the start of the year.

Last Saturday, 50 of Kelly’s close family and friends were invited to Katrina Pollock’s Hair Boutique salon in the Diamond Arcade, for a special day in memory of the well-known business women.

After Kelly’s death, Katrina felt it would be nice to remember her good friend and business acquaintance and raise some money at the same time.

A tearful Katrina explained: “Kelly and I got friendly thanks to our businesses at the Diamond Arcade. I felt that this was a good way of remembering Kelly, who was a fantastic girl.”

Despite the pair only being friends for a short time, Katrina has fond memories of bubbly Kelly:“Kelly and I were always in each others salons having a cuppa together. Things just aren’t the same without her. I am really pleased to be supporting this charity that Kelly’s mum Jenny and dad John are behind.” Katrina thanked the local business who donated prizes for a raffle on the day.

Kelly’s father John added: “Everyone has been very supportive since Kelly passed away. Kelly’s brother Patrick and his girlfriend Lynsey are currently going through their examinations, and they hope to open up Kelly’s business ‘Pearly Whites’ very soon. It’s very comforting to us as a family that we continue this for Kelly.”
