I’m a sealebrity - get me out of here

You see all sorts of things floating along in rivers these days but those unaware of the periodic seal sightings in the River Lagan at Lisburn can be forgiven their surprise at spotting one of the marine mammals out for a swim.

Visiting Dromore man Dean Banks and his cousin were out walking the dog when they spotted a seal .

Said Dean: “We couldn’t make out what it was at first - it was far too big to be an otter - but then we caught on what it was.”

When the walkers passed the same spot on their return trip, the seal was waiting.

“It might still be there, for all you know,” said Dean, “but it wouldn’t need to go too much farther or it might end up in the Mournes.”
