Honourable Irish Society meets Junior Minister Ross

As well as acting as a cross community grant making charitable organisation, the Society uses the networking abilities of its trustees to develop economic links and connections between Northern Ireland and the City of London.

Roger Chadwick, Deputy Governor of the Honourable The Irish Society said; “The Society has had strong historical connections with Londonderry and Coleraine since the 1600’s, and we are very keen to maintain and enhance these links. We are actively working with local councils and the devolved NI government on a number of collaborative opportunities involving the City of London, for the economic benefit of Northern Ireland. We believe that strengthening these ties has become especially important following the UK vote to leave the EU.”

Speaking after the dinner Junior Minister Alastair Ross said: “It was an honour to meet with The Irish Society and hear about the many projects and initiatives they are involved in. Their close connection with the City of London has facilitated many financial benefits to the people of Northern Ireland; and their cross community work is helping many of our young people build a better and more cohesive community. The Society shares many of the aims of the Northern Ireland Executive and I commend them for their determination, and continued commitment, to make Northern Ireland a great place in which to live, work and invest.”
