‘Highest level possible’: inspectors

Gaelscoil an Chaistil, Ballycastle’s Gaelic-medium Primary and Nursery School has just gone through a full school inspection from the Education and Training Inspectorate.

The outcome of the inspectors’ report was that Gaelscoil an Chaistil is achieving at the highest level possible.

Inspectors were particularly impressed with “high standards of education that are being provided in the school” and that “all teachers are effective at promoting and advancing learning with the majority of lessons observed being highly effective.”

The inspectors further commented on the “very effective use of questioning” and that “children are given numerous opportunities to work collaboratively, both in pairs and in groups”.

They also noted the school’s strength of nurturing children of all abilities which was illustrated in the “effective challenge that was observed in the majority of lessons”. The management of Gaelscoil an Chaistil also received praise with inspectors commenting on “the strong leadership and management of Gaelscoil an Chaistil, and we have a high level of confidence in the governance of the school”.

Principal Brídín Ní Dhonnghaile said she was delighted.
