Help for small businesses

CRAIGAVON Borough Council has launched an innovative new programme for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) throughout the Borough to help increase their extensive product range, giving them the edge over competitors.

Organised by the Council in partnership with the European Regional Development Fund under the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland, the programme involves 20 local SME’s over two years.

Each participating SME will benefit from working with experts in product, service, systems and technology transfer as well as having access to a bank of market experts across Europe and the USA.

Commenting on the launch of the programme, Alderman Sydney Anderson, Chair of Development Committee, said: “Council is aware that this is a challenging time for small and medium businesses and we are committed to helping them weather the current economic downturn and ultimately expand their business.

"There is a need to ‘think outside of the box’ in times of economic instability and I am confident that this programme will prove to be an important and practical development for our local SME sector.”

The programme is accredited through the Institute of Leadership and Management and is financed by Craigavon Borough Council and the European Regional Development Fund.
