Harry Ferguson night in Dervock

GIVEN the opportunity to speak to Harry Ferguson, the inventor of the hydraulic system, which is the basis of the modern tractor, there isn’t a farmer living who would spurn it, writes Caroline Hawthorne.

Sadly that can never be for he is no longer with us. But whilst we can’t speak to Harry Ferguson in person, we can enjoy the next best thing; we can hear him spoken about.

On Tuesday 11th October at Dervock Reformed Presbyterian Church Men’s Fellowship in their Church Hall (on the Castlecat Road) Mr George Conn will be doing just that.

George is something of an authority on Harry Ferguson and he will be speaking of him in the context of the times in which he lived, his influence on farming, his ability as an engineer and there will be a Christian perspective on the man as well.

It promises to be an informative, interesting and enjoyable evening. The meeting begins at 8.00pm. Admission is free. The chat promises to be good. Refreshments will be served. You will be made very welcome.
