Grants announced for local projects

A number of local organisations have received grants in the latest funding awards announced by the Big Lottery Fund.

Extern Northern Ireland received £10,000. The Mallusk-based organisation works with marginalised and isolated people. They are using the £10,000 grant to provide training and materials to develop a hub drop in centre for offenders with complex needs and learning difficulties.

A grant of £10,000 was awarded to Hollybank Primary School. The school in Monkstown is using the money to install an outdoor agility course to improve health and physical fitness of the pupils outside of class time.

Funding of £4,548 has been allocated to Mossley Heritage and Development Association. The group manages a community hall and runs activities and events throughout the year for the local community.

They are using the £4,548 to provide new tables and chairs so that more people can take part in activities in the hall.

Newtownabbey Arts and Cultural Network are the recipients of £10,000. The group community-based organisation provides access to a variety of educational, social and physical activities to the people of Rathcoole. They are using the funding to develop a multi-media hub in their accessible community facility.
