Graffiti attacks judge

ANGRY vandals have posted a sinister message against the Crown Court Judge who recently jailed a Strabane mother for stealing a £10 pair of jeans on the ratepayer-funded Foyle Valley Railway Museum in Londonderry.

The hoods have also attacked the Sentinel newspaper with the acronym ‘F.T.S.’

Last April criminals damaged the facility with the vulgar taunt ‘F*** the Sentinel” which was reprised over recent weeks in the ‘F.T.S.’ abbreviated form.

The graffiti reads “Kill Pierce [sic] Grant” believed to be a reference to the Crown Court Judge who sparked controversy a number of weeks ago when he jailed Alison Hewitt for stealing a £10 pair of jeans.

Last year bigots posted slogans on the shutters of the facility attacking Protestants, the PSNI, Combat 18 and this newspaper.

The ratepayer-funded museum has been used as a posting board by anti-social elements on a regular basis over the past number of years.

Much of the graffiti in the past has been sectarian in its nature with “HUNS will die” and “kill ALL HUNS” amongst the slogans to have defaced the museum grounds.

Other messages have been directed against the PSNI - “RUC OUT,” “kill COPS,” “PSNI SCUM” and the far right organisation Combat 18 - “COMBAT 18 SCUM.”

The museum is a popular gathering place for street drinkers and youths.

Graffiti endorsing dissident republican organisations and targeting a serving police constable appeared on the shutters of the museum over recent years.
