Speaking following the announcement, Ian McCrea said: “This is great news for the constituency whereby five Orange Halls will get funding for new build and energy efficiency works.

“The Community Capacity Hubs application in the Northern Zone will include five Orange halls and totals £1.4m. I’m delighted that our efforts have paid off and the local volunteers are a step closer to having improved facilities.

“Having been in touch with representatives from these halls over the past few days, they are excited to have their application approved and bursting with enthusiasm to get the works commenced.

“Orange halls are often overlooked as being a vital asset in communities. Indeed, many youth groups, sports clubs, churches and uniform organisations depend on such facilities.

“Letters of offer will now be sent out over the next couple of weeks and this will commence the next stage of the process and hopefully it will not be too long before we see building works commence.”
