Fostering information session in Town Hall

COULD you brighten up a child's world?

The question is posed by the Northern Health and Social Care Trust as part of its continued efforts to recruit new foster carers in the borough.

Staff from the Northern Trust Recruitment and Assessment Team will be holding an information session on Thursday 30 September in Carrickfergus Town Hall from 7.00 - 9.00pm. Anyone interested in fostering is most welcome to attend.

Eilish Scott, the Trust’s Recruitment and Initial Assessment Manager, said: “Fostering provides children who cannot live with their own families with a loving and stable home; it need not necessarily be a full time commitment. Foster carers can look after children of all ages for anything from a few days to right through their childhood. However, there is currently a particular need for carers to look after young people between 12 and 18 years of age.

“In the Northern Trust we need more foster carers for children who require long and short term placements and weekend respite care. We provide training, financial support and 24 hour social work support to help foster carers undertake the fostering task. The Northern Trust is currently offering new opportunities for 13,000 and 18,000 fee paid foster carers.”
