Forum members meet with District Commander to discuss policing changes

PSNI District Commander, Superintendent Muir Clark, attended Ballyclare and District Policing and Community Forum’s (BDPCF) meeting on September 16. He was accompanied at the meeting by Inspector James Gourley and Sgt David Boyd.

“Superintendent Clark addressed members to explain how the establishment of the new Local Policing Teams and Neighbourhood Teams, which became operational on September 14, would benefit all communities within our District Electoral Areas,” explained BDPCF secretary Norman Ramsay.

“The Superintendent invited questions from members of the Forum, and these included topics such as: Budgetary pressures at present on the service, the maintaining of confidence with police contacts past and present, the distribution of any new literature to assist the Chamber of Trade in the town, continuing engagement between the police and other community groups to give reassurance with regard to the restructuring, Neighbourhood Watch, and the importance of all of the community contributing and having an opportunity assist the police in their duties.”

BDPCF chairperson, Mrs Valerie Jenkins, thanked Supt Clark and his colleagues for their attendance at the meeting and stressed that Forum members will continue working with the Police Service and council officials in a bid to resolve problems within local communities.
