Fireworks warning issued ahead of Halloween period
Upper Bann DUP MLA Sydney Anderson has issued a warning over the dangers of fireworks before Halloween.
Mr Anderson stated: “As we move into the Halloween period we usually see an increase in the number of fireworks which are set off. Whilst fireworks can be enjoyed safely it is important to remember that they should be used with caution and in line with current legislation. Importantly, it has to be noted that fireworks cannot be bought in Northern Ireland without a license, the only exceptions being sparklers and indoor type fireworks.
“Whilst there has clearly been a reduction in the number of firework related injuries occurring in recent years it is very important to not adopt a complacent approach to safety.”
