The court heard he was detected carrying the child without a restraint on the Old Portadown Road, Lurgan, on August 19 last year.

He failed to produce his licence.

Mr Paddy Moriarty, representing the defendant, said his client accepted the child should have been properly restrained.

There were four people in the vehicle including the child’s mother.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said he regarded this as a serious matter because the child’s safety was at risk.
