Gas network extension brings funding boost for Whitehead community groups

The Whitehead Wombles litter picking team and Brighter Whitehead each received a donation from the company towards the materials and tools they need to continue their community work.
Whitehead Wombles and Brighter Whitehead volunteers have kept the town blooming despite the challenges of Covid-19.

Hide AdRecognising their efforts, Jonathan Martindale, director of business development at Phoenix Natural Gas, said: “We are delighted to support the Whitehead Wombles and Brighter Whitehead volunteers and to offer them a small boost to help them continue the great work they do to in presenting Whitehead at its best for residents and visitors.
“Being active in the communities in which we operate in is important to us at Phoenix Natural Gas and we are delighted to help fuel these amazing volunteer efforts that keep Whitehead in bloom.”
Accepting the donations on behalf of the groups, Noel McKee, said: “We are so grateful to our wonderful volunteers who give up their time to take part in the litter collections and work tirelessly to maintain the beautiful floral displays across the town. We want to say a huge thank you to Phoenix Natural Gas for their donation towards planting and equipment for the volunteers.”
The company is completing the extension of the pipeline to over 1,500 properties in Whitehead with more than 150 customers connected to date.
