Donna was invited to visit Specsavers to receive a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a £150 glasses voucher as she was announced as a finalist in the 45 to 59 age category.

“I’ve been wearing specs for 20 years and love checking out new designs and styles,” she said. “I’m really delighted to have got this far in the competition. I was browsing online and saw the competition on the Specsavers website and thought why not have a go.”

Brian O’Kane, Specsavers Northern Ireland Chairman said: “We’d like to congratulate Donna on reaching the regional finalist stage of Spectacle Wearer of the year. It’s a great honour and we wish her and the other finalists the best of luck for the next stage of the awards.”

The awards were launched by Spice Girls singer and Heart FM DJ Emma Bunton earlier this year. If Donna triumphs in her age category, she could meet Emma at the celeb-packed awards ceremony at London’s 8 Northumberland Avenue on Tuesday 6 October.
