Thousands of pounds worth of damage in school attack

Several thousand pounds worth of damage has been caused to a Co Armagh school in an overnight vandalism incident.

Police said the incident had occurred at Tullygally Primary School in Craigavon.

It would appear a pellet gun was used in the incident.

They said: “Overnight there was several thousand pounds worth of damage caused to windows at Tullygally Primary School, Craigavon.

“This school is currently open and the staff are there with vulnerable children and children of key workers in this time of emergency.

“Someone has used pellets to break the glass of seven windows.

“All the cost of repair will have to be met from current school funds.

“If you saw anyone or have any information as to who did this please contact 101 quoting reference number 311 of the 14/05/2020.”

School principal Mrs Kirsty Andrews described the incident as ‘disgraceful’: “At the end of the day we are trying to do a stressful job in the current climate.

“We are one of the few schools that are open and have remained open. We’re a small school in comparison to some.

“It is a disgrace that we are targeted for vandalism when we are trying to make this a happy place for children.”
